The tangible monuments to a family’s ancestry stand in local cemeteries for many years, exposed to the elements and receiving no maintenance. On significant family occasions, a careful and respectful cleaning or restoration of cemetery monuments or family mausoleums evidences the high regard that we have for our predecessors.

Chosen for its strength and beauty, stone is the natural, enduring material for monuments and mausoleums. Decades of soil and pollution can obscure the beauty of significant monuments, but HartzStone restores the original color and polish to stone monuments and mausoleums. HartzStone also restores the original condition of metal mausoleum doors.

Older, marble or limestone monuments are often eroded and difficult to read. Because of their historical significance, these monuments are sometimes cleaned but not restored, so as to preserve all of the remaining original inscriptions for our descendents, historians and the community.

Brown’s Monuments
Besides engraving and sculpting any type of cemetery monument or crypt, Ned Steinmetz creates unique architectural elements for distinctive homes and businesses.

Any embellishment that can be created in stone can be created at Brown’s Monuments: an etched rose, a low relief coat of arms, or a carved arch. Ned creates artistic etching and full three-dimensional carving in marble, granite and any other natural stone.

These architectural elements require some advance planning, because they must be created in the studio before installation.
